A Little History-The Story
Behind iCorrect Portrait
In 2001,
our affiliate technology company, Pictographics
International, introduced iCorrect
Professional Photoshop plug-in, the first
plug-in to use the
Pictographics' digital color technology.
It was an immediate success because it reduced
complex color correction tasks to a simple
"point-and-click" process and made
people come alive.
iCorrect Professional
 |
Here is what Mike Passini, Digital Imaging Resource, said
about iCorrect Professional in 2001.
"iCorrect Professional, ...provides a smarter way to
color correct an image...Take our favorite problem. Flesh
tones. Your digicam may handle these fine in sunlight, but
do less well with flash. And if you're scanning the problem
is even worse. Natural skin tones are complex but our eyes
are not easily fooled. Sometimes it's so bad it seems like
everyone overdosed on various quick tanning creams...But
select iCorrect from the Filter menu, set "Skin" for the
target color and just click on the bad skin and presto!
you've got flesh tones. Not eFlesh Tones, not one-hour flesh
tones, but real skin color." |
The two major
reasons for iCorrect Professional's success was that it (a)
reduced complex Photoshop color correction to a simple point
and click process and (b) employed a new skin tone
technology that made people come alive. The skin tone
technology that was developed by Pictographics, now in
iCorrect Portrait, is still unique in the digital imaging
industry and the best skin tone correction available.
iCorrect Professional
Discontinued-(Dumb Decision)-iCorrect
Portrait Released
In early 2004 we set up a separate company,
PictoColor, to develop and market end-user products and
Pictographics became a technology licensing
company,
www.pictographicsint.com.
Because of product confusion (a condition we still endure), we
decided to drop iCorrect Professional and concentrate on marketing
iCorrect EditLab, our flagship
product. Well, that didn't set to well with many of our customers
because, while EditLab is a truly remarkable color correction and
editing technology, the simplicity and skin tone technology of
iCorrect Professional was missed. So, after a discussion with one of
our portrait photographer customers who suggested we create a new
version and re-name it (maybe call it Portrait) we decided to follow
his advise. In June, 2005 we introduced
iCorrect Portrait
with a new user interface and productivity features while
maintaining the simplicity and skin tone technology of IC
Professional. The current version, iCorrect Portrait 1.5,
was released in 2007. And, it is still getting rave
reviews.
A Note from a recent iCorrect Portrait User:
iCorrect Portrait is Awesome!
"I
just wanted to take a moment to thank you for such an
AWESOME product!!!! I am a videographer who frequently has
to color-correct and otherwise "fix" a lot of pictures in a
short period of time to produce photo montages, as well as
artwork for my products. I don't know what I EVER did
without the Portrait correction tool."

"For me, the perfect
photo correction tool would take just a few seconds to
use, require minimal tinkering, and vastly improve my
photos. PictoColor’s iCorrect Portrait, a plug-in
for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements reaches for
this ideal and succeeds. As its name implies,
iCorrect Portrait was designed for portraits, and is
targeted to commercial photographers and advanced
hobbyists.
